Medical Assistant 

This course prepares the individual to work as a clinical medical assistant in doctor’s offices and clinics. Topics include communication techniques, medical law and ethics, laboratory duties, scope of practice, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, infection control measures, general patient care procedures, basic office administration, phlebotomy, and basic ekg monitoring.


Upon the completion of this course the student will be able to work under the supervision of a doctor or physician and can chart a new patient's medical history, keep records, schedule appointments, take height, weight, temperature, and blood pressure information. In addition, they may prepare and administer injections (upon direction from a physician) and also prepare a patient for their physical exam. Their responsibilities may also include performing many of the administrative duties needed by the staff of a medical practice. Upon completion students are eligible to take the National Exam for Clinical Medical Assistants through various National agencies such as the NHA and NCCT,

Required Medical Assistant Clinical/Work Experience Hours: 100 

Clinical hours are conducted after course completion but prior to receipt of certificate

   Must provide a copy of one of the following: Unofficial High School Transcript, College               Transcript, GED or Equivalency
    Current Immunizations (negative TB test or chest x-ray, MMR, Tetanus, and date -if                   applicable- of Chicken Pox)

Introducing the Caring For Life Clinical Medical Assistant Hybrid Immersion Program

Caring For Life is excited to introduce our new Hybrid Clinical Medical Assistant Program, a unique and innovative learning experience designed to provide students with both theoretical knowledge and hands-on clinical training. This blended learning model allows students to complete coursework online before participating in a dedicated, immersive, in-person training session.


Program Overview
In this program, students will first complete the online portion, where they will gain a strong foundation in medical assisting through instructor-led coursework. Assignments will be due weekly to ensure consistent engagement and comprehension. Throughout this phase, students will receive direct support from instructors and be actively involved in learning the essential skills required for a career as a Clinical Medical Assistant.


During the last half of the online portion, students will register for one of the in-person immersion sessions. This hands-on training experience will allow students to apply their knowledge in a realistic healthcare environment, practicing vital clinical skills such as taking vital signs, drawing blood, assisting with procedures, and patient interaction. The immersive session ensures students develop the confidence and competence needed to succeed in the medical field.


What is Clinical Immersion?
Clinical immersion fully integrates students into a simulated clinical setting, where they will actively engage in performing hands-on medical tasks. This training covers essential skills such as:

  • Infection control
  • Effective communication and note-taking
  • Chief complaint processing
  • Vital signs assessment
  • Phlebotomy techniques, including venipunctures and capillary sticks
  • Pharmacology and medication administration
  • Sterile technique
  • Suture and staple removal
  • Wound care, splinting, and casting 
  • Specimen collection and testing
  • Electrocardiography (EKG)
  • Urinary catheterization


During this session, students will receive personalized instruction from experienced educators, allowing them to practice and refine their clinical skills in preparation for the clinical externship.


Program Completion & Certification
To successfully complete the program, students must:

  1. Successfully complete the online coursework.
  2. Attend and complete the in-person clinical immersion session.
  3. Complete a 100-hour clinical externship at an approved healthcare facility.

Upon fulfilling these requirements, students will receive a Clinical Medical Assistant Diploma and be eligible to sit for the following National Certification Exams:

  • Clinical Medical Assistant
  • Phlebotomy Technician
  • EKG Technician

Program Cost & Enrollment Requirements
The cost of the Online Clinical Medical Assistant Diploma program is $2500. The in-person immersion program is $250. To register for the immersion program, you must be enrolled in or have completed the Caring For Life Online Clinical Medical Assistant Diploma.
